Rare Africa Travel safaris can be tailored to the desires and budget of the client with experiences ranging from relatively rustic tented camps to 4 and 5 star lodges. All safaris include transportation, three meals each day, water, park fees, lodging and support staff. Potential destinations include the parks and conservation areas in northern Tanzania and cultural sites near the parks and within the conservation areas. The typical safari starts with transportation from the Kilimanjaro Airport to overnight accommodations in Arusha. The trip to the parks and the beginning of the game drives begin on day two and run through the duration of the safari across northern Tanzania, with safaris typically running 5-15 days total. Clients are then delivered back to the airport on the final day of adventure. Refer to the representative safaris below and contact us to design your custom safari.
Tented Camps Safari
The camping safari is for those desiring the most natural setting and experience for their safari. The safari includes several nights in two person tents with individual cots for sleeping and meals provided by your own personal cook, interspersed with several evenings in modest priced commercial tented camps and/or lodges. Each day is filled with game drives to see the magnificent wildlife. This gives the client the true African adventure while camped in campgrounds managed by the National Parks.
The lodge-based safaris combine the daily game drives with meals and lodging each evening within and just outside of the Parks and preserves for a 7-10 day safari. A range of accommodations are available up to and including unique tented lodges and 5-star luxury lodges. Below are some examples.

For the more adventurous we offer a 6-7 day climb of Mount Kilimanjaro. The trek includes a guide, porters and strategically located base camps allowing for acclamation to the extreme elevation of the mountain. The climber is treated to a changing ecology as you move from the lush woodlands around the base of the mountain, through heath lands, grasslands and subalpine moorlands, to the rock and ice at 19,340 feet. The Kilimanjaro trek can be combined with a 5-7 day safari into the national parks of northern Tanzania.
Either the tented or lodged based safari can be expanded to a 12-15 day adventure for the expert photographer. Our vehicles are equipped for photography and our drivers can put the photographer in the perfect location for as much time as needed to get the shot-of-a-lifetime. This trip also includes an extended visit to cultural sites such as traditional Maasai villages and cultural activities.
